Hyrum was not feeling well and was up all night. Consequently so was I. So this morning I wisked Brin and Cam off to school on the bus and went back to bed with the rest of the kids. I was just starting to doze off when the phone started to ring. I was very tempted to ignore it but I saw it was the school. I ran to find the phone but missed it. I listened to the message. Cameron had fallen off the slide and had knocked out one of his front teeth, bloody his nose, split his lip/chin and scraped his head so I needed to come and have a look and him to make sure he was ok. I hurried to the school and I went in I found a very scared Cameron laying in the nurses room.
When I looked at the cut I figured it needed stitches because I couldn't get a butterfly bandage to stick. I called the Doctor in both Battlement and Rifle, they were totally booked today. I had to take him to the ER. In triage they looked at Cam and told him it could be stitched or maybe dermaplasted that is like a glue. He really hoped for the dermaplast. We only had to wait a little while in the waiting room before they called Curtis. When this happens I always look around for a minute wondering why no one is going in. Then I realize it's us. So we went back into the ER. The Nurse cleaned his cut, scrapes and tooth spot then gave him some motrin and an ice pack.

It was really amazing, I didn't thing there would really be anything in it but, there were little bits of gravel and sand. After the nurse left Cam was feeling a bit more comfortable as we started to chat I asked "Are you sure, you didn't go down the slide head first?" I had asked him about 20 times and he was insistant that he didn't, that he just went down the slide normal and didn't pay attention. I asked "Are you sure?" "I have never had that happen just sliding normally." "Are you not telling me because you think you will get into trouble?" He sheepishly looked down and said "Yes." I promised him I wouldn't get mad so he told me. He even told me I could put it on the blog with "the stupid pictures". So this is what he told me, "I wore that long sweat shirt so I pulled it over my feet and zipped down and suddenly I smashed on my face." I laughed and laughed. I think it is remarkable that this was his first time in the ER he is a dare devil! After he revealed this, all barriers were down, he started a pirate growl with the ice pack being his eye patch.
The doctor didn't take long to come in, which I was very grateful for. She looked at Cam and said "he won't need stitches. Just the dermoplast glue." Cam said it stung a little but he was so brave. She then told us we needed to go to a dentist to make sure all the tooth came out. (It had been loose for a long time)Luckly Doctor Burgess met us at his office on his day off. Looked for the roots, did an x-ray and proclaimed Cam to be OK!

Wow, what a day you both had!! I'm really glad his tooth was his baby tooth, When Raychel knocked out her tooth it was almost a year long process to save it!! Amazing how strong these little people are!! Great pictures!! Cameron is very brave with all he went through, what a story to tell when he goes back to school!! :)
